It was hard saying bye to my Oma and heading out on my own. I travel a lot, granted, but this is the first time I took off to different countries. Ive been here so many times before.  This time at my Oma's wasn't much different, except for the music.  This trip is all about the music and it was confirmed my first day here. When my aunt and uncle asked me to come to a small bar where bands practice and people (it only fits about 6) can watch.  There was a blues band from the US practicing for a 10 day tour they were about to head out on.    We spend about 2 hours listening to the band making amazing music and you could feel it in that room. Planning a trip is no different from planning a tour. If you're old school you get your atlas out and peruse though the pages to find all the destinations you want to visit and how they all fit together. Im back in Nashville. Songwriting and meeting people and catching up with old friends. Its always a fun drive to get here. Its part of the fun, the 10 hour drive here is usually pretty tiring, but with good music by your side it flys by. Music, the reason we come here. This city filled with dreams, you could get lost chasing all the possibilities this place has to offer. Its the perfect place for a dreamer like me. 2012 feels like it should be somehow significant doesn't it? Kind of like ringing in the year 2000 knowing full well that the world was not going to end but wondering what was going to be special about it. Looking back now I can't really remember anything about it. I know probably did some traveling as I did every year and rang in midnight with my friends but nothing really stands out. I choose to do music about 4 years ago, in reality it kind of choose me. Trust me if I was as passionate about anything else it would be so much easier to just give up on music and choose another path. But music is my love my life line. For so long I didn't think it was an option. I was always a powerful singer and because of that my mom would tell me to out side if I wanted to sing and my sisters told me not to sit near them in church if I was going to. Made it to one of USA's artsy city's, LA. I LOVE this place, not only are the people I've encountered so far super nice, but the sun is shining, the ocean is calling and this place is so full of culture. The artists on Venice Beach are amazing, the food is so tasty (especially the organic nachos and guacamole) and this city has a calm relaxed vibe to it, it's easy to see why people from all over the world flock here. Im so excited to be opening for Doc Walker this coming Wednesday, Nov 23rd. They are the first Canadian Country band I've ever seen live and man do they ever have some of the best harmonies in the country! I have tons of respect for them and I can't wait to bring my guitar up on stage and open for them on Wednesday! It is going to be a night to remember!! Im very thankful for this opportunity and can't wait to see their show again!!! Doc Walker, some christmas tunes and a amazing night at Cowboys! Who could ask for more:)

There are many new and exciting things happening for me this week!!! Nov 14-18 is anti-bullying week and I am so excited to have partnered with the Waterloo District Police to bring my anti-bullying talks to elementary and highschools in the Waterloo Region! Many kids have come forward at these schools to share their stories with me and I hope that learning from my story and the stories from those in their classes will help everyone know that they are not alone and that someone is there to always talk to them if they need someone to listen. We finally made it to Calgary yesterday! I definately LOVE this town! Not sue I can handle it in the winter but for these gorgeous sunny days it is one place in Canada that is seriously happening! We decided to get a hotel room yesterday and I slept 16 hours, I think thats a testament to how much sleep I was actually lacking! It felt great this morning to wake up and feel truly refreshed! We stopped into a hospital before heading to Calgary to get my throat looked at. It had been aching for a few weeks now and a friend of mine who is a neurosurgeon told me that it can lead to Cardiac Arrest...
