Thanks to my dad…

This is an interesting industry, music.  It’s an industry where you have to work harder then people imagine with very little thanks.  This is an industry where you have to love what you do, love it so much that you may work for years and years without an income, without knowing whether or not its going to work. Or if it does work and people dig your music, your style, your brand and you do get to do what you love everyday it makes it easier to be thankful for it.     I LOVE music, music is my whole life, its whats on my mind 24/7.  It is why I drive across this country, fly to Europe, or tour down to Nashville, just to showcase, just to play a song, just to write.

I think I am lucky to be the daughter of a farmer, of a man who consistently worked 16 hour days in order to build up the farm and provide for us, his family.  I am also fortunate to be the daughter of a man who lives everyday with a smile on his face, whether he’s facing bankruptcy after 30 years on that farm or an upturn in the corn and bean prices which make things a little easier.  My father never let us know if money was tight, still took us out for breakfast because “you only live once and you can’t take it with you.”  My father makes me a better person, makes me try so hard in this industry just to see if it will all work out.  I would rather LOVE my life and live in poverty then be rich doing what just gets me through the day.   My father makes me want to be a better person, be a positive example for others and try to live my best life.

And so i’ll keep working as hard as I can, keep being the best person I can be and keep making music cause that’s how my dad taught me.  To love what you do, and stay true to you are no matter what.  And in the end I’ll be able to look back and said I was happy everyday, and that I am very thankful for.

I hope you dig what I do as much as I,

Lots of Love,

Stacey

You are very lucky to have such wonderful memories of your Dad! I feel the same way about my Dad! He was a farmer as well, but he always made sure he had time for us. I just lost my mother-in-law, so it really makes you appreciate the family you have left. Life is short. I envy you for the dream you have and the will to see it through….no matter what! Keep doing what you do! Keep remembering, keep smiling and have FUN!!
